Danish ICT/German Study Groups visit Rice University
October 7, 2002

Visitors enjoys breakfast before the program starts.
Harro Bräuniger and Hilena Vargas Kathy Matthews, Dean of Natural Sciences, welcomes the group to Rice University.
Jan Odegard, Director of CITI, and Richard Tapia, Director of CEEE, also welcome the visitors.
Cynthia Lanius gives a talk about Gender Equity and Technology. Tina Kim, Anne Christian and Gina Upperman talk about their experiences in the computing field.

Devika Subramanian talks about her research in Localization Algorithms for an Autonomous Campus Tour Guide.

 

The group visits Westside HS to see the successes from GirlTECH participants in promoting the participation of girls and women using technology in the classrooms. 

 

Sara Fattore-Castro, GirlTECH '99, welcomes them to Westside HS.

Visitors observe Karen North's classroom. She was a GirlTECH participant in 1996.

Visitors observe Susan Boone's classroom. She was a GirlTECH participant in 1995, and now she is a master teacher for TeacherTECH.

Teachers and visitors gather for a wrap-up of the day's activities.
