Getting to Rice:

These directions are from the three freeways in closest proximity to Rice University.

Directions from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and I-59 North

  1. From Intercontinental's terminal road, follow signs to US 59 South.
  2. Once on US 59 proceed south approximately 25 miles and exit at Greenbriar.
  3. Turn left under US 59 and follow Greenbriar to the light at Rice Boulevard.
  4. Turn left onto Rice Boulevard. Rice campus entry gates will be on your right.
  5. Turn right into Entrance #12, park in one of the free Visitor's parking spaces in the Rice Stadium lot (see the map, PDF file) and ride the free campus shuttle from the bus shelters to Duncan Hall. Shuttles run about every five minutes.
  6. Duncan Hall is the fifth stop on the shuttle route (after you leave the Stadium). When you get on the shuttle, tell the driver where you need to stop …or, just shout "Next stop, please!" after you round the corner on the East end of the Inner Loop. Duncan Hall will be right in front of you as you leave the shuttle.

Directions from Houston Hobby Airport (HOU), and I-45 South
       (Coming from I-45 North? Exit at US-59 South, and follow these directions from #3 on.)

  1. From Hobby's parking area, exit onto Broadway and follow signs to I-45 North.
  2. Take I-45 North approximately 6 miles to US 59 South.
  3. Once on US 59 proceed south approximately 3 miles and exit at Greenbriar.
  4. Turn left under US 59 and follow Greenbriar to the light at Rice Boulevard.
  5. Turn left onto Rice Boulevard. Rice campus entry gates will be on your right.
  6. Turn right into Entrance #12, park in one of the free Visitor's parking spaces in the Rice Stadium lot (see the map, PDF file) and ride the free campus shuttle from the bus shelters to Duncan Hall. Shuttles run about every five minutes.

Directions from West Loop 610

  1. Take the US 59 exit toward downtown.
  2. Once on US 59 proceed east approximately 2 miles and exit at Greenbriar.
  3. Turn right on Greenbriar and follow it to the light at Rice Boulevard.
  4. Turn left onto Rice Boulevard. Rice campus entry gates will be on your right.
  5. Turn right into Entrance #12, park in one of the free Visitor's parking spaces in the Rice Stadium lot (see the map, PDF file) and ride the free campus shuttle from the bus shelters to Duncan Hall. Shuttles run about every five minutes.
